Milwaukee police ask for help in year-old unsolved murder

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are asking for any help they can get in a year-old unsolved murder.

On March 15, 2011, 23-year-old Diamaris Gonzalez was shot and killed while waiting for a bus. She had just finished work at Lena's Food Market when the crime occurred. Police say they believe two African-American men are responsible for the killing.

Gonzalez normally drove to work, but her car was towed the day before. That forced her to use the bus for the first time.

"If anybody in the community, in the Holton Street area knows anything, please help me find this person. This person is not a good person," said Evelin Gonzalez, Diamaris' mother.

Police have no suspects in the case. They say they haven't even nailed down a motive for the crime, but they're confident someone has information that can be helpful.

"I can't think of any homicide that I've investigated that we did not locate someone within a small circle of friends or family that knew or had suspicion that their friend or loved one was involved," said Detective Steven Caballero.

If you have information that could help push this investigation forward, you're urged to call Milwaukee police at 414-935-7360.
