8-year-old Milwaukee boy hurt after hit-and-run
Milwaukee police are looking for the driver who hit and injured an 8-year-old boy on the city's south side and fled the scene on Tuesday, Oct. 14.

What they're saying:
It happened at 35th and Scott. The Milwaukee Police Department said a vehicle hit an 8-year-old, King "KJ" Hogan, and the driver fled the scene.
The child was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

"I called FOX6 because my son was hit on 35th and Scott," said his mother, Mildred Boyd.
Boyd said her children were crossing the street after school to catch a bus when the crash happened.
A mother's plea
What they're saying:
"The light turned red, it was for them to walk. As they were walking, all the other cars stopped, but this lady did not stop," Boyd said.
She said the vehicle swerved but still struck her son, flipping him into the air before he landed face-first on the pavement in front of his siblings.
"He was just in the ICU. He has to have face reconstruction. He broke his jaw. Four of his front teeth are permanently gone," Boyd said. "They think they may have to wire his mouth shut."
From his hospital bed, Hogan managed a thumbs-up to the camera while recovering.
Boyd said her older children saw the driver in a gray SUV look back briefly before leaving.
"He is traumatized after this, all he keeps saying is he don’t want to play no more," Boyd said. "How dare you? You know you hit a child and continued to go."

She said police told her a nearby MCTS bus may have captured the incident on video. In the meantime, she hopes someone comes forward with information.
"It’s the reckless driving, no care for human beings, for the streets," the mother said. "It’s a red light for a reason. It don’t mean still go, or I can make it. It means stop," Boyd said.
