A 66-year-old man is dead after a hit-and-run on Milwaukee's north side Thursday night, Aug. 28.

What they're saying:

It happened near Teutonia and Ruby around 10 p.m. The victim's family identified him as Jimmie Betties and said he was hit on one side of the street and flew to the other side. He was using his walker when he was hit.

One member of the Betties family said, just last year, they lost another family member on the same street who was also hit by a car.

Reckless driving issues

Local perspective:

Neighbors there said they see reckless driving all too often – no matter the time of day.

"We have reckless driving constantly," said resident Ralph Jackson. "Speed limit 30-35 at the most, I constantly see 45-50 easy – it's notorious.

"In our community there's schools every few blocks and there's speeding on every block."

FOX6 reached out to Ald. Andrea Pratt about the reckless driving issue but did not hear back by the deadline for this story.
