Greenfield police chase; fleeing driver crashes

Four people were taken to the hospital after a Greenfield police chase ended in a crash on Milwaukee’s south side on Thursday night, Nov. 20.

Four people were taken to the hospital after a Greenfield police chase ended in a crash on Milwaukee’s south side on Thursday night, Nov. 20.

What we know:

According to the Greenfield Police Department, the pursuit began around 8:14 p.m. after officers attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding and no registration in the area of 27th Street and I-41.

The driver refused to stop -- and the officer initiated a pursuit. The fleeing vehicle increased its speed to over 100 mph during the pursuit, police say.

The chase ended in a crash at 4th and Becher. Police say the suspect vehicle struck a light pole before hitting another vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle struck by the suspect sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital. A passenger in the vehicle struck by the suspect had to be extricated from the vehicle. She sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital.

Greenfield police chase ends in crash at 4th and Becher in Milwaukee

The driver of the suspect vehicle, a 33-year-old man from Milwaukee, was on active supervision and had multiple warrants. He sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital.

A 31-year-old woman in the suspect vehicle also sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Charges under review

What's next:

Several charges for the driver of the suspect vehicle will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office, including:

  • Felon in possession of a firearm
  • Possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine
  • Possession with intent to deliver cocaine
  • Possession with intent to deliver fentanyl
  • Fleeing/eluding
  • First-degree recklessly endangering safety
