MILWAUKEE COUNTY - The Milwaukee County Zoo announced on Thursday that the Herb & Nada Mahler Family Aviary is now closed for the foreseeable future.
What they're saying:
The closure is out of an abundance of caution meant to protect the zoo's avian population from HPAI – commonly known as Avian Influenza (Bird Flu). The decision was made after recent, suspicious, bird deaths on the Chicago shores of Lake Michigan.

"Those migratory birds could come up to zoo and could bring avian influenza with them."
What's next:
The Milwaukee County Zoo said it will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
