Police said it appears the suspect left empty-handed.

"If this person is preying on older people at 5 o'clock in the morning, why are there no patrol cars? Where is our police presence?" said a concerned neighbor.

"Think before you act," Clifton said. "It could be your own loved one or someone you care about so deeply."

Police are searching for the suspect. The victim is expected to survive.
