Item resembling explosive device in West Allis actually mechanical tool



WEST ALLIS -- February 21 at approximately 7:11 p.m. the West Allis Police Department  discovered an item resembling an explosive device at a trailer park in the 10200 block of W. Greenfield Ave. during execution of a search warrant.

Upon discovery of the item officers evacuated and secured the area. The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad was contacted to assist in identification and disposal of the item.

After further investigation authorities determined that the item resembling an explosive device was a mechanical tool reportedly used for water treatment. Officials say no explosive devices were found in the trailer or the surrounding area during this investigation.



After the investigation residents were allowed to return and the area was cleared by police and fire personnel.

Police say explosives were not the subject of the search warrant.
