Charged: Sheboygan couple wakes to find man stealing beer from their fridge at 2:00 a.m.
SHEBOYGAN COUNTY -- A Sheboygan man is criminally charged -- accused of breaking into a couple's home in the middle of the night, and stealing beer from their refrigerator.
21-year-old Luis Flores of Sheboygan faces one count of burglary of a dwelling, boat or motor home for the alleged crime that happened on Tuesday, November 22nd.
According to a criminal complaint, police were dispatched to a home on Cooper Avenue near 20th Street (near Cooper Elementary School) around 2:00 a.m. for a report of a burglary.
Responding officers learned the suspect was being held at gunpoint in the kitchen.
Flores was taken into custody.
The complaint states a man living in the home had been dressing a deer in the garage -- entering and exiting through the back door of the home throughout most of the evening. The man and woman living at the home indicated they must have left the back door unlocked when they went to bed.
Around 2:00 a.m., their dog began barking and wouldn't stop.
The woman then noticed a light coming from the kitchen, and the refrigerator door was open.
According to the complaint, Flores was seen removing beer from the fridge.
The woman then informed the man that there was a stranger in the home, and the man obtained a handgun and entered the kitchen and "challenged" Flores -- yelling at him to get out of his house.
Officers then arrived and arrested Flores.
The complaint indicates an odor of intoxicants was noted on Flores' person, and his behavior was consistent with some sort of substance abuse -- either drugs or alcohol or both.
Officers found a wallet and keys belonging to the man who lives in the home inside Flores' pockets.
