MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian that occurred Wednesday morning, May 10th. Police said a 15-year-old boy was struck by a car around 7:45 a.m. near Teutonia and Fairmount Avenues. Surveillance video from a nearby business may help identify the driver.

A few yards from where police say the young man was hit, is Emad Elkhalifa's auto body shop.

"I've got like five cameras, actually," said Elkhalifa. "I believe as a human being, as a person, I have to do this."

Elkhalifa said he arrived to his business at Teutonia and Fairmount after the crime happened.

Elkhalifa said at least one of his security cameras is pointed toward the street -- but he isn't sure if it was actually recording Wednesday morning.

On the other side of Teutonia, Darryl Nelson said he came across the scene.

"The young man was laying right here, right there in the street. A little guy laying out in the street right here and I think a nurse from the daycare -- she ran over there," said Nelson.

Nelson said the daycare employee was helping the victim before an ambulance arrived.

Elkhalifa said as a father of three young children, he feels compelled to help police as much as possible.

"The kid is in a bad condition. They didn't get the guy who hit the kid and I do have the camera," said Elkhalifa. "I will, even if I have to pay to fix everything, I will do it."

Milwaukee police continue to search for the striking vehicle and driver.

Anyone with information is asked to contact MPD.
