Reporter

Wanted – Curious, passionate, dynamic journalist with a need to break stories and win every day on-air and on-line.  If that describes you and your work, we’d love to have you join our team.  You’ll be rewarded with amazing company benefits including a generous time off package and a 401k program.

Responsibilities

Developing sources and breaking stories is what it’s all about, you MUST be able to demonstrate how you aggressively pursue relevant stories and develop exclusive content.  You must be great at incorporating digital/social media content with all your stories too.  The successful candidate must have strong LIVE reporting skills and the ability to communicate complex stories that our viewers can understand and use to better their lives!! You have to be a people person who can work in a TEAM environment!

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field with a minimum 3 years reporting experience in a commercial television news operation.  You must have a passion for storytelling and come to our editorial meetings with great story ideas!  You’ll need to exhibit strong on-air skills both in the field and in studio.  You must strive for excellence in everything and relentlessly pursue your stories with passion and determination.

Meteorologist

FOX6 News is seeking a passionate, dynamic meteorologist to join the state’s top weather team.  You should be able to comfortably move from forecasting blizzards to severe thunderstorms without missing a beat….sometimes in the same week!  We have a state-of-the-art weather office full of HD weather graphics, live HD Doppler radar, a beautiful outdoor weather deck and plenty of other high-tech gear to assist in your forecasting.  We have all the tools; we just need the right meteorologist!  FOX offers employees great benefits, including a generous time off and 401k package and what our employees call the best healthcare insurance in the industry.  

Responsibilities

You need to do it all: television, online, social networking and community outreach.  The person we’re looking for will work all shifts, including morning newscasts where a dynamic personality is an absolute must. You must be able to forecast and cover severe weather. We’re seeking a great storyteller who uses all the technology to create lively, compelling weather segments, on-air and online. 

Qualifications

An AMS or NWA sealed meteorologist with at least 2 years on-air experience is preferred. You must have a 4 year college degree.  Strong live broadcast and reporting skills are required. Knowledgeable of social media platforms and connected TV apps is huge plus!

Photojournalist

Responsibilities

As a FOX6 Photojournalist, your days will be anything but monotonous. You’ll be in the field, teaming up with a reporter to chase breaking news and turning stories on a tight deadline. You’ll be tasked with covering a local or professional sporting event or even going on your own to capture compelling weather video.  You’ll flex your storytelling muscles with longform pieces that you are passionate about. We will provide the equipment so you can capture the best sequences, natural sounds and moments to produce compelling stories that our viewers remember.     

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is strongly preferred.
  • At least two years of Television News shooting experience, as well as technical knowledge of non-linear editing software, preferably Edius, and photo equipment
  • Must be physically able to lift, carry and handle 30 to 50 pounds of camera gear, and deal with the realities of a Wisconsin winter or summer.
  • Position requires driving.
  • Drone license preferred

Producer

You will architect an entire hour of compelling, late-night news content that makes our audience tune in night after night.  You must maintain unwavering accuracy and demonstrate urgency in your news writing. You must exhibit strong news judgment while managing multiple facets of the broadcast news production such as stacking, showcasing and writing teases.  You will execute error-free newscasts from the booth, staying calm under pressure while communicating clearly with your team.  You will establish FOX6 as the go-to source for breaking news.  You will prioritize innovation to deliver content that distinguishes FOX6 from the competition.  You will demonstrate understanding of the ever changing broadcast business which includes streaming and maintaining an on-line presence.

Sports Producer

We are a forward-thinking station that’s all about delivering captivating sports content on-air, digitally and streaming.  We believe in the magic of a well-told sports story and will provide our producer with all the tools to create compelling content that will inform, excite, and entertain our audience.  You will be the mastermind behind a weekly sports roundtable show, you will craft specials that resonate with Wisconsin sports fans, and you will ensure top-notch coverage of all of our local sports teams.  You will advocate for the Sports Department, pushing for story angles that the community cares about for both sports and news.  You will create enterprise content that is unique to FOX6 and FOX Local. You’ll think outside the box for ways to incorporate more sports coverage in all aspects of our business. 

Qualifications
