You will be responsible for guiding news coverage on digital and broadcast platforms during your assigned shift.  You will work closely with news managers to create compelling content. You will handle ENG and news crew deployment and coordinate live crew assignments. Because we are a multiple platform news operation with a heavy emphasis on our digital platforms, you must know how to use social media, the internet and other emerging technologies to generate news stories and news contacts. You must have the skills to post content and assign resources to a digital platform. This position assists the news producers with story research.  You will answer news department phones, support state and national network news partners with information, video and scripts.  You will monitor police and fire scanners and e-mail for potential news stories.  Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Must have a Journalism or communication degree or related experience. Previous assignment desk or associate producer experience preferred. Applicant must have excellent news judgment and understand how to use current news-gathering tools for both broadcast and digital platforms.  Must be organized and be able to prioritize assignments to maximize staff output. The Vice President of Engineering will ensure the operational continuity and budgetary compliance of engineering, production, news technical, facilities and security including mechanical systems and tower/transmitter oversight. Develop and implement current and long-range technical operation plans, prepare departmental expense and capital budgets. Maintain three-year capital plan. Ensure that all projects are properly implemented and executed. Develop and update three-year building/future technology plan. Responsible for station compliance with FCC, OSHA and FAA regulations. Establish procedures and standards for operation and maintenance of equipment and proper studio operations. Oversee the management of personnel. Develop and implement systems to ensure fault-tolerant and error-free operation of Station(s)’ broadcast equipment; daily oversight of local Hub/Spoke technology assuring efficient error-free operations. Extensive knowledge of all broadcast systems and knowledge of government regulations and industry standards required, ensuring the station's technical compliance.

Qualifications

Level & Role-Specific Qualifications

  • 8+ years leading media and broadcast engineering teams
  • Understanding of industry standards from organizations such as Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA), the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), and Federal Communications Commission (FCC)
  • Experience with production video and broadcast operations in both traditional and IP-based infrastructure environments e.g. IP routers, SDN, SMPTE 2022 & 2110, and best practices securing IP-based systems and networks
  • Expertise with on-prem and cloud-based storage and compute infrastructure platforms that power the modern broadcasting environment

Staff Accountant

WITI FOX6 is searching for an outgoing performer to work with the FOX6 Finance team.  This position will work hand in hand with multiple departments while specializing in assisting the Finance Director to prepare and coordinate timely and accurate reporting in accordance with company policies, government regulations and GAAP for WITI Television. 

Responsibilities

Maintenance Engineer

WITI-TV Fox 6 - FOX Television Stations Owned and Operated in Milwaukee, Wisconsin is looking for a Broadcast Engineering Technician. In this role, you will employ your electro-mechanical and information systems skills in a customer service based environment where we support our News broadcasting and Digital streaming efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all technical equipment is operational and support the production department’s use of the equipment. Supported systems include, but not limited to: HDSDI router and switchers, audio consoles and network, intercom system, digital asset management system, cameras, multi-view monitor systems
  • Identify signal parameters and troubleshoot issues using test equipment including waveform monitors, vector monitors, audio metering, network and transport stream analyzers, and a variety of cable testers
  • Work daily with Engineers, Production, News, and Digital personnel to support live programming
  • Ensure all production systems are up to date and functioning as needed
  • Troubleshoot issues with broadcast systems, and work with vendors and open trouble tickets with customer support
  • Repair or replace equipment as needed
  • Work with Engineering Leadership Team to plan and implement projects on tasks including research and specification of vendor/hardware/software, installation and configuration of system or solution
  • Occasional facility maintenance level work will be assigned as required

  • Must be able to lift and carry forty-five (45) pounds and with equipment, traverse walking distances, up and down stairs, and rough terrain to complete essential job functions.
