There’s a trick to successfully growing carrots and beets



(WITI) -- Leafy greens are the best during the cool weather of early spring. Sow seed directly into the garden for leaf lettuce, spinach, and Swiss chard. You will also see how sow mesclun to have for cut-and-come-again throughout June.



Root crops will germinate and grow in cold soil. We will plant bulbing onions, shallots and garlic now for a tasty harvest mid-summer.



Carrots are the smallest seeds used in the garden and beets are among the largest. There’s a trick to successfully growing both. See how to get them started and to continue on for a little longer than usual.
