$50,000 cash bond set for 33-year-old man accused of having sex with a 13-year-old girl

WAUKESHA (WITI) — Detectives with the Waukesha Police Department arrested a 33-year-old man on Tuesday, November 4th after they learned he allegedly communicated with, met and sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl who lives in Waukesha.33-year-old Jason Matter of West Bend now faces four criminal charges, including: sexual exploitation of a child, causing a child under the age of 13 to view or listen to sexual activity (two counts), and attempted first degree sexual assault of a child - sexual intercourse with a child under 13.Waukesha police were conducting an investigation relating to a juvenile victim who had reportedly been talking with multiple adult males via different mobile applications.

BROOKFIELD (WITI) -- Dozens of firefighters were called in to put out a blaze at a large home in Brookfield on Sunday, October 26th, at 1125 Ashbourne Court.Less than a week before Halloween, a family's nightmare."I had seen a lot of smoke, it was very scary," said Linda Russo, lives nearby.Neighbors say their street was filled with smoke as flames went through the roof.A beautiful fall morning on Ashbourne Court, obscured by smoke."It's one thing to see smoke, a big cloud of smoke as we were coming up the drive but it's another thing to actually see the fire itself," said Russo.A number of agencies had to be called in to get the fire under control.

ARRESTED: Three police agencies come together to apprehend armed robbery suspect in Butler

BUTLER (WITI) -- Police officers with the Butler Police Department, the Wauwatosa Police Department and the Brookfield Police Department on Thursday afternoon, October 16th came together to arrest an armed robbery suspect.The call came in to the Wauwatosa Police Department just before 12:30 p.m. Thursday from a business in the 4700 block of N. 124th Street -- reporting a suspicious person on their property.Wauwatosa police say before officers arrived at the scene, the subject displayed a handgun and stole a bottle of Gatorade -- before fleeing.Responding officers got a description of the man, and he was spotted soon after officers arrived.Wauwatosa police officers attempted to make contact with the man, but he fled into a wooded area -- toward a railroad yard east of 124th Street and west of Highway 45.Several squad cars responded to the scene.The man was taken into custody shortly after officers arrived.

Menomonee Falls police take two into custody following armed bank robbery, pursuit

MENOMONEE FALLS (WITI) -- Menomonee Falls police say two people are in custody following an armed bank robbery and subsequent pursuit.Police were made aware of an armed robbery that occurred at the Associated Bank on Main Street in Menomonee Falls shortly after 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, October 14th.Police say the suspects fled in a vehicle and headed eastbound on Main Street.

Waukesha police investigating the death of a two-year-old child

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- Waukesha police say they are investigating the death of a two-year-old child.Police say just after 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 6th, they were dispatched to a residence on Barstow Avenue for a report of a child who wasn't breathing.Paramedics began life-saving procedures and transported the child to the hospital.

NOT GUILTY: Charged with domestic-related disorderly conduct, Waukesha Co. detective makes plea

WAUKESHA COUNTY (WITI) -- A Waukesha County detective whom co-workers have called "a hazard on the job" has pleaded not guilty to a charge of domestic-related disorderly conduct.Pete Korns has been a detective at the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department for 26 years.He has been reprimanded nine times since 2011 for misconduct, and co-workers say they're upset he's gotten to keep his job.Korns is currently on administrative leave, and his police powers have been suspended while this case works its way through court.Korns will next be in court on October 27th.Related stories:
