3 injured after car crashes into tree in Racine County; driver arrested for OWI

RACINE COUNTY -- Three people are in the hospital after a vehicle crashed into a tree Thursday night, July 19.It happened in the Town of Norway near Settler and Pioneer Roads around 10:45 p.m. Racine County Sheriff deputies were called to the scene for a car versus tree accident.Deputies and rescue personnel arrived on scene and began treating the driver and one of the passengers who were able to get out of the vehicle.

Man arrested for OWI, 6th offense after crashing motorized bike in ditch in Racine County

RACINE COUNTY -- Racine County sheriff's officials say a Franksville man, 58, was arrested for OWI, sixth offense after crashing his motorized bicycle into a ditch in the Town of Yorkville.It happened near 67th Drive and Durand Avenue around 7 p.m.Sheriff's officials say the man was combative at the scene, and was also arrested for resisting/obstructing.It was determined that he had been riding his motorized bicycle on the roadway prior to crashing into the ditch.

3 minors hurt in crash involving 3 vehicles at Highway 20 and Raynor in Racine County

RACINE COUNTY -- Three minors were hurt in a crash involving three vehicles in Racine on Tuesday afternoon, July 17.It happened around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 20 and Raynor Avenue.According to sheriff's officials, a preliminary investigation has revealed a southbound sedan failed to yield the right-of-way from the stop sign, and was struck by a pickup truck headed westbound, and then struck another vehicle that was stopped to turn northbound onto Raynor.Flight for Life took the minor passenger in the sedan to Children's Hospital with serious injuries.

TOWN OF RAYMOND -- The Racine County Sheriff's Office is investigating a series of thefts in the Town of Raymond -- one involving several firearms that were taken from a vehicle.During their investigation, deputies conducted a canvas of the neighborhood and learned that several more vehicles had been entered and items stolen.

Sheriff: Woman allegedly stabbed husband during drunken argument on Fourth of July

BURLINGTON -- Officials with the Racine County Sheriff's Office said a woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon, July 4 in the Town of Burlington, accused of stabbing her husband.It happened shortly before 3 p.m. at a home on Fairview Court.According to sheriff's officials, the 54-year-old husband told deputies he'd been stabbed by his wife, who is 46.An investigation revealed both the husband and wife had been drinking, and an argument ensued, at which point the wife grabbed a large kitchen knife and stabbed her husband in the chest before stabbing his motorcycle several times.The husband suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Waterford woman killed in crash involving dump truck in Town of Burlington

TOWN OF BURLINGTON -- A Waterford area woman, 28, was killed in a crash involving a dump truck in the Town of Burlington on Wednesday afternoon, June 6.It happened shortly after 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of State Highway 11/Durand Avenue and County Highway J/English Settlement Avenue.Sheriff's officials said a preliminary investigation has revealed a 2015 Toyota sedan, headed northbound on County Highway J stopped at a stop sign and then drove directly into the path of the dump truck, headed westbound, which was pulling a trailer with a bucket loader.

Man convicted of biting K-9 officer during March arrest sentenced to jail

RACINE COUNTY -- A man accused of biting a Racine County Sheriff's Office K-9 during his arrest in March has been sentenced to jail.Leland O'Malley, 44, of Burlington on Tuesday, June 5 pleaded no contest to one count of shove/strike police/fire animals and one count of resisting or obstructing an officer.A disorderly conduct charge was dismissed as a result of the plea deal.O'Malley was then sentenced to serve 90 days in jail, with credit for 77 days time served.This case was filed in March of 2018 out of Racine County.In a separate case, filed in April out of Walworth County, O'Malley is charged with strangulation and suffocation, domestic abuse assessments, and battery, domestic abuse assessements.He has a status conference set for June 18 in that case.

Head-on collision between SUV, dump truck leaves 1 dead, another injured

RACINE -- One person is dead and another injured after a head-on collision between an SUV and dump truck in the Town of Burlington on Thursday, May 31.Officials with the Racine County Sheriff's Office say the wreck happened around 12:15 p.m. on County Highway P between State Highway 36 and Yahnke Rd.The preliminary investigation shows the SUV was southbound on County Highway P and crossed the center line.
