Milwaukee fire officials respond to two-alarm blaze near S. 4th & Lapham

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee officials responded to a two-alarm fire in a pair of homes near S. 4th and Lapham Boulevard Wednesday afternoon, March 16th.According to the Milwaukee Fire Department, the fire was called in around 4:30 p.m.Officials say the fire was originally a one-alarm fire but was bumped up to two alarms after it spread to another home.

Woman hurt in fire believed to have been caused by smoking accident

MILWAUKEE -- Officials with the Milwaukee Fire Department say a smoking accident led to a fire that left a woman hurt on Sunday, March 13th.It happened in a home on Burrell Street, near Smith Street (near the intersection of 1st and Lincoln).Around 10:30 a.m., fire officials received a call from neighbors indicating the home was on fire.When firefighters arrived, they found the front half of the home fully engulfed in flames.The woman living inside was able to get out on her own, and fire crews then aggressively attacked the fire.

Six people displaced after fire in apartment building near 56th and Mill Road

MILWAUKEE -- Six people were displaced by a fire that happened inside an eight-unit apartment building near 56th and Mill Road.The call for this fire came in shortly after 6:00 p.m.We're told an elderly person was living on the first floor in a unit where the fire broke out.That person was able to get out safely.The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.One unit in the building has been deemed a total loss.The cause of the fire is under investigation.Fire officials say there were no working smoke detectors in the building.

Early morning fire damages store, apartments near 1st & Burleigh; no one hurt

MILWAUKEE -- Firefighters on Thursday morning, March 10th were called to the scene of a structure fire near 1st and Burleigh.The fire broke out around 1:15 a.m. at a two-story building that houses Russell's Food on the first floor and apartments on the second floor.Investigators believe the flames started on the second floor of the building  -- and then burned through the ceiling of the first floor.No one was injured.The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Two adults displaced after small kitchen fire in home near 11th & Fiebrantz

MILWAUKEE -- Officials with the Milwaukee Fire Department say two adults were displaced following a small kitchen fire that happened at a home near 11th and Fiebrantz on Tuesday evening, February 23rd.It happened around 6:00 p.m.No one was hurt.The fire was caused by a pan with grease that was on the stove.

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee firefighters battled a house fire near 28th and Wells early Saturday, February 20th.The three-alarm fire broke out around 2 a.m. -- and was apparently fueled by gas.A We Energies was dispatched to the scene -- and turned off the gas.The home is considered a total loss.Fire officials believe nobody was home at the time the fire broke out.
