Woman could face fine for hanging American flag on door: "I pay to live here; the door is my property"

DAVISON, Michigan -- A town home complex is holding the line against door displays, even of the American flag.

Doris Fladzinkski of Davison hung Old Glory on her door at Kearsley Creek Townhouses and received a notice that she would be penalized $25 a day unless she took it down.

"I pay to live here. The door, as far as I'm concerned, is my property until I step on the sidewalk," Fladzinkski said. "I don't care what kind of flag you want to hang, as long as our flag is on top."

Management at Kearsley Creek told TV5 the restrictions are in the lease and allowing the flag on one door opens the figurative door to potentially offensive displays.
