Milwaukee mask mandate ending, COVID-19 updates

Officials with Milwaukee County and its local municipalities on Tuesday shared the latest updates regarding COVID-19. That included an announcement from Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett that the city's public health order and mask mandate would end June 1.

The number of positive cases of COVID-19 in Wisconsin increased by 481 Tuesday, May 18, for a total of 606,755, state health officials reported.

There have been 6,971 deaths in the state, with 13 new deaths reported Tuesday.

Among those who have tested positive for COVID-19, 30,345 people have been hospitalized (5%) and 592,672 people have recovered (97.7%). There are 6,846 active cases in the state (1.1%).

More than 2.9 million have tested negative.

More than 3.5 million have been tested.
