Web Fix: Dad, dog save little girl from copperhead snake

VIRGINIA (WITI) -- A four-year-old girl in Virginia came face-to-face with a copperhead snake.

The little girl's dad says he knew something was wrong when he heard the dog barking.

Draper Carlton saw the poisonous snake coiled up by his daughter's bare leg in the garage. He jumped into action -- grabbing the girl and setting her on top of a stack of boxes.

After a brief stare-down with the snake, he was able to kill it with a hoe.

"It was awful because my kids were in there playing all the time," Carlton said.

Dad put the snake in the freezer, so it can be stuffed. It measured 44 inches -- one of the largest copperheads on record in Virginia.
