We Energies: Fault in underground cable leaves 2,900 customers without power in downtown Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- We Energies reported roughly 2,900 people were without power in downtown Milwaukee Monday evening, October 10th. The outage was a result of a fault in an underground cable.

According to We Energies, the outage occurred at 4:15 p.m.

We Energies crews needed to locate the section of cable that had a fault worked to isolate it. Then they were able to reroute power around it.

As of 7:30 p.m., power to all customers was restored.

Boundaries of the outage included Lincoln Memorial Drive on the east side, 6th Street on the west, St. Paul Avenue on the south.

According to We Energies, the faulty cable was not related to any construction work, or any work being done for the new downtown arena.
