Wauwatosa mother says middle school daughter threatened

WAUWATOSA (WITI) -- A Wauwatosa mother is demanding answers after school officials informed her a threat was made against her daughter. She says it took more than two days for the school to notify her of the threat and they will not tell her what exactly the threat was.

Alacia Smith says officials at Longfellow Middle School in Wauwatosa failed her daughter.

Smith says last Friday, she received a call from Principal Jason Gailen.

"Informed me my daughter had been threatened by another student and that he could not disclose the details but they were gruesome and very disturbing," Smith said.

Smith says the principal denied to provide any more specifics.

She was furious to learn the alleged incident happened at least two days before the school called her, and that officials never told her daughter about the threat, or what the specific threat was.

On Tuesday, May 28th, she met with the Principal Gailen and recorded the conversation. The principal said he met with the student who made the threat.

According to the Wauwatosa Police call log, police were called to Longfellow twice last Tuesday.

Police refused to provide the reports for those calls -- saying they were tied to mental health issues.

FOX6 News reached out to Principal Gailen who said the school had no comment other than to say a disciplinary hearing has been set for the student involved.
