The backstory:

The hit-and-run happened in May 2024. Waukesha police said a delivery driver hit the 7-year-old boy near Bel-Ayr Drive and Easy Street and took off.

Man runs from Waukesha County court; plea entered, sentence handed down

A man arrested after the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department said he ran from the courtroom during an April 2024 hearing agreed to a plea deal and was sentenced.

Investigators said Hamischiach had borrowed someone else's SUV to make a GrubHub delivery. They said when she hit the boy, he rolled up onto the hood.

Cellphone records showed Hamischiach went from the intersection of the crash to a bar a mile away. There, prosecutors said she got another person to drive the SUV back to the owner.

A day later, police said the vehicle was spotted on surveillance video at a car wash.

Police were able to find surveillance video from the neighborhood that showed the SUV leave the area. They connected the vehicle in the video to Hamishiach because of its roof racks and a distinct purple camouflage shirt the driver was wearing.

A court commissioner said Hamishiach's license was revoked at the time of the hit-and-run due to a previous OWI conviction.

Police also said Hamishiach searched for "Waukesha police reports today" and "car crashes in the last 24 hours near me" on her phone.
