On Tuesday, October 9th the Obama campaign announced that Biden will stump in Wisconsin on Friday, October 12th -- after his face-off with the Republican vice presidential nominee in Danville, Kentucky. Biden will be joined by his wife, Jill Biden.
The choice of location is noteworthy.
If Biden is the perceived winner of the Thursday match up, the Wisconsin event could serve as a symbolic victory rally, of sorts, for Obama supporters on the opponent's home turf. Ryan is a seven-term congressman from the Badger state.
Alternately, a perceived Biden loss to Ryan in the debate could prove an embarrassing choice of location and further the storyline of an Obama campaign reeling after a widely panned performance by President Obama against Mitt Romney in last week's first presidential debate.
Though CNN previously rated Wisconsin as "leaning Obama," the state -- with its 10 electoral votes -- is now seen as a "toss up" on CNN's Electoral Map following Ryan's selection as Romney's running mate.
