Two Sheboygan police officers arrested for OWI while off-duty

SHEBOYGAN (WITI) -- FOX6 News has learned two off-duty Sheboygan police officers were placed under arrest for OWI on Wednesday, December 4th.

Police responded to the scene of a two-car crash at N. Taylor Drive and Superior Ave. around 11:53 p.m.

As a result of the investigation, two off-duty Sheboygan police officers were placed under arrest for OWI.

Police say both officers were off-duty and driving their personal vehicles at the time of the crash.  The accident involved two vehicles, and the only occupants of those vehicles were the officers. 

There were no injuries associated with the crash.

Police say the crash occurred as one officer was stopped at the flashing red lights, eastbound on Superior Ave., at N. Taylor Dr.  The second officer was driving behind the first, and drove into the back of the stopped vehicle.

The first officer has been a police officer with the City of Sheboygan since June, 2011.  He was issued a citation for 1st offense OWI and Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Prohibited Alcohol Concentration.

The second officer has been a police officer with the City of Sheboygan since August, 2005.  He was also issued citations for 1st Offense OWI and Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Prohibited Alcohol Concentration.

All charges have been forwarded to the Sheboygan-Kohler municipal court.

Both officers were placed on administrative duties and an internal investigation of these incidents is ongoing.
