Thompson & Baldwin prepare for first debate in U.S. Senate race

MILWAUKEE -- Democrat Tammy Baldwin and Republican Tommy Thompson are preparing for their first debate in the U.S. Senate race. The latest Marquette University Law School showed an 18-point shift in the race for U.S. Senate, proving how important tonight's debate is.

Thompson has led Congresswoman Baldwin in every Marquette University Law School Poll except the most recent one. The latest poll showed Congresswoman Baldwin at 50% and Thompson at 41%. This may be a result of Thompson being outspent by Baldwin on television and radio ads.

The latest issue is a video where Thompson said he'd "do away with Medicaid and Medicare", a quote Democrats are all over. Thompson says the full context of his quote is that he plans to reform the programs, not get rid of them.
