Skydiver lands in Sturtevant pond, dies

A professional skydiver from Tennessee landed in a pond in Sturtevant near the Skydive Midwest property Sunday and died due to his injuries.

A skydiver landed in a pond in Sturtevant near the Skydive Midwest property Sunday, Aug. 28.

Sheriff's officials said the victim, 36-year-old Kyle White of Tennessee, died on scene after suffering traumatic injuries in the crash.

An investigation revealed in the victim, a professional skydiver, was conducting test runs for the national championship competition this week with several other professional skydivers. It's believed the victim was "descending at the wrong angle for the practice run," which resulted in him landing in the pond. Fellow skydivers said his parachute had deployed, and he showed no signs of distress before, during or immediately after landing.
