Sheriff's Office: 52 citations issued during September truck inspections on county freeway system

MILWAUKEE COUNTY (WITI) -- During the month of September, the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office teamed up with the Milwaukee Police Department to conduct truck inspections on the Milwaukee County freeway system. Sheriff's officials say more than a third of the "commercial motor vehicles" that were inspected were taken out of service.

Sheriff's deputies certified in truck inspection partnered with Milwaukee police officers for "commercial motor vehicle" enforcement related to the vehicles' safety equipment and operators' driving behaviors.

The inspections covered equipment violations involving brakes, lights, secured loads, suspensions and tires, along with logbook violations.

    The truck inspections are held throughout the year, with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office and the Milwaukee Police Department also partnering with the Wisconsin State Patrol.
