Police: Three teens arrested, accused of robbing a couple of their vehicle Saturday
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police on Saturday, August 9th were able to quickly apprehend three carjacking suspects.
Police say just before 4:00 p.m. Saturday, a Milwaukee couple was robbed at gunpoint of their Dodge Durango and personal items in the 5100 block of W. Melvina.
Shortly before 5:30 p.m., police observed the vehicle in the area of W. Burleigh and N. 48th Street.
Upon seeing the police squad car, police say the vehicle turned northbound onto N. 46th Street and fled at a high rate of speed.
While attempting to negotiate a left turn two blocks away, the individuals lost control of the vehicle and struck a wooden utility pole.
All three suspects inside the vehicle fled on foot.
Police searched for the suspects for an hour -- and all three were located and arrested.
Police say a semi-automatic pistol believed to be used to commit the robbery was recovered in a yard under a shirt that was removed by one of the suspects, and a second firearm was located in the vehicle.
The three suspects, one 15-year-old and two 17-year-old males from Milwaukee were not injured.
