Police: Armed robbery suspect arrested within minutes of committing crime

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police arrested an armed robbery suspect just minutes after the crime happened in downtown Milwaukee on Sunday, July 12th.

According to police, an officer from District One was on patrol at the intersection of N. 8th Street and W. Wisconsin Avenue around 8:40 a.m. when he was approached by a victim who stated he had just been robbed.

The victim, a 26-year-old Milwaukee man, pointed to a woman running away and identified her as the suspect. The victim told officers the woman came up to him, pointed a weapon at him, and demanded his belongings.

The suspect, a 20-year-old Milwaukee woman, then fled from the scene on foot with the victim’s cell phone and cash. Officers took her into custody following a short foot chase and found the victim’s belongings in her pocket.

During the chase, she dropped an Airsoft gun she used in the crime. While being escorted to the Police Administration Building, the suspect spit on one of the officers. The suspect now faces charges Throwing/Discharging of Bodily Fluids at Public Safety Workers as well as Armed Robbery.

MPD will present the case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Officer in the coming days.
