Police: 34-year-old woman, 13-year-old boy shot & seriously injured; suspect quickly arrested

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating a shooting that left two people hurt -- including a 13-year-old boy -- and it may have stemmed from a domestic violence incident.

It happened shortly before 2:00 p.m. near 50th and Vienna.

Police say a 34-year-old Milwaukee woman and a 13-year-old boy from Milwaukee were shot and hurt during an argument.

Both of the victims suffered serious injuries. They were taken to the hospital.

The suspect, a 32-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested by Milwaukee police just after the shooting -- a short distance from where the shooting happened.

Police recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.

Police say the suspect and the woman who was shot are in a dating relationship.

Neighbors tell FOX6 News the victims in this shooting live on the block where the shooting happened. Multiple neighbors indicated there is a history of domestic disturbances at that home. One neighbor said last week, a woman ran from the home before a man caught her and dragged her back down the block.

"I'm used to seeing them fight -- but never a shooting. Never," a neighbor, who didn't want to share her name with FOX6 News said.

This anonymous neighbor said she saw the 13-year-old boy after the shooting.

"I saw him walking out. He was holding his shoulder. He was shot in the arm. He does attend my daughter`s school -- so I`m very concerned about his safety as well," the neighbor said.

The neighborhood block captain told FOX6 News she heard three gunshots from her home.

"I was standing in my front living room and at the point of hearing the third shot. I ran and grabbed my children and placed them in a safe area, and then began calling the police and sending out alerts on NextDoor, which is a neighborhood site," Temeka Williams said.

Neighbors tell FOX6 News the 13-year-old boy hurt in this incident is the woman's son.

"It saddens me to know that a child has to be subjected to that lifestyle. No one should have to live under those circumstances," Williams said.
