Poison claim on flight probed, but CDC clears jet

(CNN) -- A passenger aboard a United Airlines flight from Hong Kong to Newark allegedly became disruptive on Monday, apparently claiming fellow travelers had been poisoned, officials said.

Flight 116 continued as scheduled and landed safely around 1:40 p.m. ET.

The passenger in question was transported to a hospital for evaluation, FBI spokesman Luis Rodriguez said.

He added that no charges had been immediately filed and that the Centers for Disease Control had cleared the Boeing 777 to park at the gate at Newark airport.

The airline said a passenger became disruptive, but that the crew followed procedures and got the situation under control.

A law enforcement official said authorities were investigating a claim that passengers aboard the plane had been poisoned.

No other details were available.
