Pewaukee woman headed to OK to rescue pets

PEWAUKEE (WITI) -- A Pewaukee woman is headed to Oklahoma on Thursday, May 23rd to help rescue animals left homeless following the EF-5 tornado that struck Moore, OK on Monday.

Caryn Buege started "Operation Bring Animals Home" after Hurricane Katrina. Her teams go into neighborhoods and search for pets.

"There's animals who literally are underneath that rubble and they can't move. I mean, they're still alive, but they can't move to get out.  We need to be there and we need to physically look underneath this rubble, listen for these animals and get them out of there," Buege said.
