One man dead after four people jump from sinking boat

TWIN LAKES (WITI) -- Authorities in Twin Lakes say four people were pulled from Lake Mary after they jumped off a boat that was taking on water.

The incident occurred Saturday, July 20th around 4:25 p.m. The Twin Lakes Police Water Patrol observed several people in the water on the north side of the lake yelling in distress.

A 10-year-old and 7-year-old were immediately pulled to safety by officers who noticed them frantically trying to stay above the water. A 37-year-old woman was also rescued by officers.

The woman informed officials that a 27-year-old man had also jumped from the boat but had not been seen since. One officer searched the waters but could not find the man.

When a swimmer in the area noticed the man under the water, he and an officer pulled the man to shore. The man immediately received CPR and was then taken to Aurora Burlington Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Twin Lakes Police Department and DNR are investigating the incident.
