Now in custody: One of Wisconsin's Most Wanted, sought in murder case, arrested in Kenosha

RACINE (WITI) -- FOX6 News has learned 22-year-old Terry Shepard of Green Bay -- one of Wisconsin's Most Wanted, has been arrested.

U.S. Marshals wanted Shepard in connection with a homicide out of Brown County.

Marshals say he shot and killed Steven Sims on April 15th.

At the time of the shooting, Marshals say Shepard had only been out of prison seven days.

U.S. Marshals say Shepard had just spent three years in prison for assaulting women in Green Bay and Kenosha, and stealing from them.

Racine police were seeking Shepard in connection with an attempted homicide case involving a 38-year-old Racine woman.

He was taken into custody on Thursday, July 3rd.

Racine police on Tuesday, July 1st around 11:30 a.m. responded to an attempted homicide that occurred in the 1800 block of Oakdale Avenue.

Responding officers located the victim at the residence and learned she had been strangled, tied up and robbed in her own home.

The victim advised she met the suspect via an online chatting website and invited him to her home.

Throughout the night the suspect, later identified as Terry Shepard, tied up the victim, strangled her into unconsciousness and locked her in the basement.

Police say Shepard threatened to harm the victim's children as well.

Officers processed evidence from the scene and were able to develop Terry Shepard as the suspect.

Shepard was actively being sought by police and U.S. Marshals for the homicide that occurred in Green Bay on April 15th.

As the investigation progressed, detectives learned that Shepard's cousin assisted in the crime in Racine.

Shepard's cousin was arrested on Thursday, July 3rd -- around 4:00 p.m.

Police were able to learn that Terry Shepard was hiding at an address in Kenosha.

The Kenosha Police Department and Pleasant Prairie Police Department assisted and were able to locate and take Shepard into custody.

Shepard is being held in Kenosha on the outstanding first degree homicide warrant out of Green Bay.

Charges are expected in the Racine incident soon.

Shepard's cousin is being held at the Racine County Jail on charges connected to the incident in Racine.
