Newborn baby girl named Hashtag, after social networking site Twitter

Unique (and, to some, crazy) baby names seem to be all the rage these days, but some say one parent took it too far -- giving their newborn baby girl a name that is an ode to social media.

The baby was named "Hashtag Jameson." Appropriately, the baby's parent posted a picture and the birth announcement on Twitter, saying: "Hashtag Jameson was born at 10 o'clock last nite," the proud parent announced on Facebook Saturday night. "She weys 8 pounds and i luv her so much!!!!!!" 

Many on Twitter criticized the parents, creating hashtags of their own, to include: #Foolishparents and #StupidestNameEver.

Hashtag isn't the first baby named after a social networking application. In 2011, a man in Egypt named his firstborn daughter Facebook.
