MPD: One dead, two injured following two separate shooting incidents

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating two separate shooting incidents that occurred overnight. One person died and two others were injured as a result of the shootings.

The first shooting occurred shortly after 11:00 p.m. near 65th and Silver Spring on Wednesday, March 16th.

Police say a 23-year-old man from Milwaukee was shot by a known subject during an argument. He fled to a nearby gas station where he called for help and was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect in this offense, a 32-year-old Milwaukee man, was stopped by officers as he was attempting to flee the scene.  A firearm believed to have been used in this offense as well as a second firearm was also recovered.

The second shooting incident occurred around 12:00 a.m. Thursday, March 17th near 19th and Center.

According to police, during circumstances that remain under investigation, a 23-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound inside a residence. The victim, identified as Jevontese Riley, was able to leave the residence but collapsed a few houses to the north -- where he died despite life-saving efforts.

A 17-year-old boy was also shot in the residence but was able to leave and go to the area of 2700 N. 11th (near 11th and Center), where he called for help. He was transported to the hospital for treatment of what is believed to be a non-life threatening injury.
