Motorcyclist accused of fourth OWI offense; stopped by trooper on I-41 in construction zone
WASHINGTON COUNTY -- A 40-year-old Hubertus man was arrested for his fourth OWI offense on Sunday afternoon, May 22nd.
According to officials with the Wisconsin State Patrol, around 4:15 p.m., a trooper stopped a motorcycle for speeding on I-41 near Richfield in Washington County.
Upon making contact with the motorcycle's operator, officials say the trooper observed signs of intoxication, and the motorcyclist admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the day.
Field sobriety tests and a preliminary breath test were performed -- and the motorcyclist was arrested for prohibited alcohol concentration, fourth offense.
He was taken to the hospital for a blood draw, and then booked into the Washington County Jail. He would also receive citations for open intoxicants, operating without a motorcycle license, non-registration of a vehicle and speeding.
A probation hold was also placed on the motorcyclist, as he is currently on probation for a prior OWI conviction.
State Patrol officials say the offenses in this case occurred in a construction zone.
