Milwaukee police investigating rash of violent incidents on Thanksgiving Eve

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating a rash of violent incidents that occurred overnight on Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday, November 21st into the early morning hours of Thursday, November 22nd. The incidents include five shootings and a stabbing -- and three people dead.

The first incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the 2900 block of W. Vliet Street. Police say a 25-year-old Milwaukee man was stabbed and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police took a  juvenile suspect into custody in connection with this homicide. Preliminary information indicates that this was the result of an argument between family members.

Police say an 18-year-old man was shot inside the "Hair Fantasies" barber shop, located near the 2500 block of N. King Drive just before midnight. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 21-year-old Milwaukee man later came to District 5 and reported that he was also shot.  He was conveyed to the hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Police say a 26-year-old Milwaukee man is in custody and is being questioned about the circumstances leading to the shooting.

On Thanksgiving morning, police were at the scene investigating, and a sign on the barber shop's window said: "Don't hurt me, don't hurt yourself or others. Think before you act. God bless."

Just after 1:00 a.m., police say a 34-year-old Milwaukee man was shot inside a residence near the 2100 block of S. 14th Street. Police are still investigating the motive for this shooting, and no suspects are in custody at this time.

FOX6 News spoke with Jose Delgado, a neighbor who lives next door to the home where the shooting occurred. Neighbors say the man who was shot had only lived in the home for a month or two, but there was a lot of traffic coming and going.

"Honestly, we figured there was going to be something going to happen, because there's always people coming in and out, but we never figured it would be like, death," Delgado said.

Delgado said in his neighborhood, hearing gunshots is nothing new, but it is something that worries him as a parent.

A 26-year-old Milwaukee man and a 28-year-old Milwaukee man were shot in the street near the 4600 block of W. Leon Terrace. No suspects are in custody in connection with this shooting at this time.

Around 2:00 a.m. Thursday, a 52-year-old Milwaukee man was shot near the 700 block of S. 37th Street -- and is recovering from what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. Police have no one in custody in connection with this shooting.

The final shooting occurred around 3:00 a.m. Thursday in the 4000 block of W. Montreal. Police say a 17-year-old Milwaukee man was shot and is being treated for injuries. No one is in custody in connection with this shooting.

Anyone with information that could help police with their investigation into any of these incidents is asked to contact Milwaukee police.
