Milwaukee Co. working to create human trafficking task force
MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County Supervisor Eyon Biddle says human trafficking is a big problem in Milwaukee County, and he was on hand Tuesday for a meeting at the Washington Park Senior Center.
Biddle says the County is in the process of forming a task force to tackle the problem.
The FBI calls human trafficking "modern day slavery." The agency says people are being forced into grueling jobs, with little or no pay.
In a recent case in Milwaukee County, three girls were allegedly shipped to Chicago to work as prostitutes.
"They are being assaulted at an early age, and introduced into this lifestyle. There are few ways to get them out of there," Biddle said.
Biddle says the County needs to help victims rebuild their lives, to find good jobs, and a safe place to live.
