MFD responds to Criminal Justice Facility for people stuck in elevator, small electrical fire

MILWAUKEE -- Officials with the Milwaukee Fire Department on Wednesday afternoon, March 16th were called out to the "Criminal Justice Facility" at 949 W. State Street (near 9th and State in downtown Milwaukee) for people trapped in an elevator, and a small fire.

Fire officials were initially called out to the facility for a report of people stuck in an elevator.

While tending to that situation,  fire officials were made aware of smoke in the lobby of the building.

Upon further inspection, it was discovered that an electrical panel exploded.

The building was partially evacuated.

The fire from the electrical panel extinguished itself.

We Energies officials were called out to the scene to investigate the electrical situation.
