Mayor Barrett to kick off Milwaukee's summer jobs program

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Mayor Barrett will officially kick-off this year’s “Earn & Learn,” Milwaukee’s annual summer jobs program Thursday afternoon, May 16th at the Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board.

Dozens of Milwaukee young people, eager to enter the workforce, will be on hand finalizing their summer job applications. The deadline to apply is 4 p.m., May 16th.

Each summer, the Earn & Learn program employs nearly 3,000 young people. Milwaukee’s summer youth employment program is a successful national model for summer youth employment. More than 16,500 summer jobs positions have been filled since Mayor Barrett began the program in 2005.
