iPhone 7 launches with enthusiasm but light lines

iPhone 7 is available now but good luck getting your hands on one. Customers are being told the Plus model is very scarce.

I've been covering iPhone launches since the very first iPhone was launched back in 2007 and each year the excitement is there but the lines get a little shorter.

That's not because less people are buying or enthusiastic about it, it probably means that Apple is doing a better job at pre-orders. Also, there are many more carriers, stores and online orders than ever before. Basically, there are so many ways to get your hands on one - especially if you don't mind waiting a few weeks.

At the Pasadena Apple store we went to, there was a pretty short line compared to recent years but shortly after we arrived even more folks left the line. The reason? Apple employees came out to tell the people in line that they have no stock of the iPhone 7 Plus. Even the iPhone 7 is available in limited quantities and none in Jet Black, the glossy new color.

I've been playing with the phone for a few days now and I share my thoughts on it in the video above. When you're done there, be sure to click the photo below to see the pictures I've taken with the new iPhone. It takes better pictures than ever and with even less fuss than ever. In a word - it's pretty amazing for a camera you always have with you.
