House fire breaks out near 87th and Grantosa, does $100K in damage

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Milwaukee Fire Department was battling a house fire at a residence near 87th and Grantosa Dr. on Thursday evening, December 26th.

Officials say the fire started around 5:10 p.m.

The fire is believed to have started in the fireplace/chimney of the home. It is believed the fire spread through the chimney and into the second floor of the home.

Crews extinguished a large portion of the fire and then worked on hot spots.

No injuries have been reported so far. It appears the residents of the home all got out before the fire department arrived.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated. We have learned the fire did about $100,000 worth of damage.
