Family devastated by Oklahoma tornado gets help in Wisconsin

FOND DU LAC (WITI) -- As storms threaten areas in the Midwest, the Fond du Lac community comes together to help a family devastated by a tornado in Oklahoma.

Dan and Nicole Angle are originally from the Fond du Lac area. They lost their nine-year-old daughter, Sydney, as a tornado ripped through her elementary school in Moore last month.

In the wreckage, a friend of the Angles says the family was able to find Sydney's softball uniform. It was what the little girl wore when her family buried her. Sydney was one of seven children killed when the tornado hit Plaza Towers Elementary School.

Laura Schneider received word from Nicole Angle for those in Fond du Lac who care so much.

"Her words are, and I quote, 'We're broken. We're missing a part of our heart. We get by hour-by-hour and day-to-day. Our friends and family bless us with such support and prayers that we are functioning now," said Schneider.

On Saturday, June 15th, there will be a fundraising softball tournament at the Village Park in Oakfield, where Dan Angle lived before he moved to Moore, Oklahoma. There will be a moment of silence for Sydney and a special song sung by girls in the high school choir.

All the food for the fundraiser was donated, so all the money will go directly to the Angle family.

Vicki Steinhardt plans to deliver the money to her friends in person.

"My goal is to rent a U-Haul for all the proceeds of what we're going up here. She said absolutely. But you could just come down if you brought just a penny," said Steinhardt.
