Druecke sentenced to eight months in hit-and-run case

WAUKESHA -- A Waukesha County judge sentenced Christine Druecke to eight months in work-release jail on Thursday. This, for a 2009 hit-and-run incident involving Brookfield police officer Paul Dilger.

Druecke struck Officer Dilger while he and two other officers were walking on North Ave. in Brookfield on an emergency call. That was shortly after midnight on December 11, 2009. Dilger landed nearly 20 feet from the point of impact.

Druecke turned herself in three days later. She initially thought she had hit a deer -- until she heard about the officer.

In court Thursday, Druecke told the court, "I'd like to say I'm truly sorry for everything Officer Dilger and his family have been through. And I wish them the best in the future."

In September 2010 Druecke pleaded guilty to felony hit-and-run causing injury as part of a plea deal.

Dilger has been forced into disability retirement as a result of the incident.

Druecke could have faced up to ten years in prison.
