MILWAUKEE -- In an attempt to ice over profits, demonstrators gathered at Leon's Frozen Custard on Friday evening, May 20th for what they call "discriminatory policy." But that demonstration did not stop the long line of customers.

The debate at hand is not over the flavor of the day, but a policy demonstrators say is discriminatory.
"If they're going to have xenophobic and racist remarks, they need to know we're going to be here, we're going to be making noise," said Camila Flores, Youth Empowered in the Struggle.
The debate is over a controversial policy, the owner telling employees to only speak to customers in English at the counter.

"It's a violation of civil rights," said Oscar Hernandez, protester.

The owner has since softened his stance. As the group "Youth Empowered by the Struggle" chants, customers continued to put in their orders at Leon's.
"Ice cream is a universal language in itself. It doesn't mean anything," said a Leon's customer.
Demonstrators are hopeful this will send a clear message.
"If you have a discriminatory policy like this, we're going to notice and we're going to tell people about it. We don't want to do business with you," said Hernandez.

It's a fight, demonstrators promise won't end anytime soon.
"If the customers are still coming, do what you want to do," said a Leon's customer.
The owner of Leon's was supposed to meet on Friday with the League of United Latin American Citizens, or LULAC, but it was canceled.
LULAC says the owner wanted more time to meet with his attorney.
