Crews now cleaning Milwaukee's Allen-Bradley clock
MILWAUKEE -- Crews were cleaning one of the faces of the Allen-Bradley clock tower Wednesday, July 18th. It is the largest four-face clock tower in the world.
Over the next few months, the Allen-Bradley clock tower will be scrubbed and cleaned in anticipation of the 50th anniversary of the tower's dedication. That takes place on October 31, 2012.
Through the end of July, the north and south faces of the clock tower will be in the 6:30 position — so crews can clean and refurbish at will. Then in August and September, the east and west faces of the clock will be locked in the 6:30 position for their cleaning.
The Allen-Bradley clock tower was completed in 1964. The original plans for the clock tower date back to 1959 — and were created by architect Fitzhugh Scott.
