Construction to start on WIS 145 at Donges Bay Road in Washington County

GERMANTOWN -- The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is scheduled to begin an intersection reconstruction of WIS 145 and Donges Bay Road, in Washington County.

With the intersection among the top five percent of intersections statewide for crash severity, it will be reconstructed into a roundabout. Studies have shown roundabouts increase safety and decrease the severity of collisions.

All persons interested in the project are encouraged to attend a public involvement meeting (PIM) on Monday, April 11 at the Germantown Community Library (Community Meeting Room – Large Side), N112 W16957 Mequon Road, Germantown, Wisconsin. The meeting runs from 5 to 7 p.m., and will be conducted as an open house. No formal presentations are scheduled. Project plans, detour routes and other exhibits will be on display to illustrate the work in detail. Representatives of WisDOT will be on hand to provide information on the project and to receive input.

Since the last PIM, WisDOT and the prime contractor, Michels Corp., have revised the initial design schedule to decrease construction duration. The current schedule of operations will be split into two stages, which are summarized below.

Stage 1:

    Stage 2:

It is estimated that the new staging would decrease the duration of the project by six weeks. The project is anticipated to begin in early May and be completed this fall.

The Germantown Community Library is wheelchair accessible. If you are deaf or hard of hearing and require an interpreter, you may request one via the Wisconsin Telecommunication Relay System (dial 711).
