Burlington man accused of ramming truck into car

BURLINGTON (WITI) -- A 22-year-old Burlington man faces a charge of felony criminal damage to property after he allegedly rammed his pickup truck into his girlfriend's car in January 2012. The accused is Jacob Reda.

The criminal complaint against Reda says back on January 17, 2012, he had plans with his girlfriend -- but she cancelled. Later that evening, the complaint says the girlfriend's sister called Reda and told him the girlfriend was cheating on him.

The complaint then indicates Reda got in his pickup truck and drove to his girlfriends house. The complaint says when he got there, Reda went into the house and told his girlfriend, "Thanks for cheating on me." He then apparently left the room and walked to his truck. At that point, the complaint indicates Reda slammed his truck into his girlfriends car several times -- causing more than $4,000 in damage. A car in front of the girlfriend's car was also damaged.

The girlfriend told police it appeared Reda was intoxicated during the incident.

If convicted, Reda faces up to three-and-a-half years in prison and $10,000 in fines. He's due back in court on Wednesday, March 27th.
