Bomb Squad called out to St. Francis to investigate what 911 caller thought was a pipe bomb

ST. FRANCIS (WITI) -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office's Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (Bomb Squad) was called out to St. Francis on Wednesday night, September 17th -- after an individual called 911 regarding a suspicious device in the middle of the street.

The device was discovered near S. Barland Avenue and E. Waterford Avenue -- just after 10:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The 911 caller was worried the device could possibly be a pipe bomb, according to St. Francis police.

The Sheriff's Office's Bomb Squad responded to the scene, and determined the device was a solid metal rod, and not an explosive device.
