Big changes coming for County buses over next few months

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Some big changes are coming to Milwaukee's County buses over the next few months.

Three of them -- and the leaders of the Milwaukee County Transit System hopes they will change your ride for the better.

Early next year, bus riders will be able to track buses in real time using a computer or smartphone.

Starting around February, you can use a smart card to pay your fare. You can still use cash, but these smart cards will replace paper tickets and can be used more than once.

"We're going to slowly transition our customers from the paper passes to our smart cards. So this will happen over several months, there's going to be ups and downs, we know we're going to have some hiccups, but we'll help people get through it," Jacqueline Janz with MCTS said.
