After Moore's appearance, is Sensenbrenner next for Colbert Report?
MENOMONEE FALLS (WITI) -- Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner has been all over national television lately -- criticizing President Obama over the IRS scandal, Benghazi and healthcare. However, there's one TV show the 18-term congressman has no interest in.
From front and center on FOX News, to serving up sound bytes on C-SPAN, Sensenbrenner is never shy about sharing his opinions.
So, after Congresswoman Gwen Moore went on "The Colbert Report" -- a late-night cable comedy program, and Moore turned into one of the most memorable appearances in the series: "Better Know a District," FOX6 News wondered whether Sensenbrenner would be willing to go there with Colbert.
"I think the answer is going to be no," Sensenbrenner said.
Sensenbrenner says appearing on that platform is bad form for a member of Congress.
"The thing is, being a member of Congress is serious business and we're dealing with things that will literally determine what kind of a country we have for the next generation or two," Sensenbrenner said.
The next installment of Colbert's series likely won't stop in Wisconsin's "fightin' fifth."
"I think we should talk about serious issues rather than talk about whatever happens to be on Steven Colbert's agenda that night," Sensenbrenner said.
Like a veteran politician, Sensenbrenner didn't close the door completely -- saying "I think the answer will be no."
